Self-wellness is one of the kindest, most caring, acts we can do for ourselves in this day and age. But the question seems to stand with different people for what it means to them and how they can benefit from it – whether it’s to boost your mental health, take you on a journey of self-development, or just to bring more loving awareness into your daily life, it’s here to stay. Self-wellness comes in all shapes and forms, so find out what works best for you!
Now it’s your turn, think about what energies you are trying to bring into your life. Are there emotions you are trying to let go of, feelings to be more accepting of? Once you have that vision in mind, we can start with activities for each category, here at ProvidingTruth, it is believed that self-wellness is not just the physical aspect of your life but, also the emotional and mental. The way to paint a beautiful canvas on the outside is from within first. With that being said, let’s start with the first category.
Emotional self-wellness includes the processing of your emotions, the environment we surround ourselves in, and also the relationships we form between ourselves and others.
Check-in with your emotions – what are you feeling at this moment? Be aware of what is happening without judgment.
Notice your emotions but know that you are not your emotions, they are just visitors, and always remember to honor them with open arms, if you choose to let them go then politely say “thank you” and open the door for them to leave.
Start listening to your body, tune into what it says after you eat a meal before you enter a room or when you’re speaking with someone.
Become aware of what you say to yourself during the day/night.
Identify what makes you feel most confident, calm, or uplifted, find time to schedule it into your week, and do that thing for at least 30 minutes a day!
Physical self-wellness activities are the outer layers. It’s a fire that we keep lit through daily or weekly routines and blooms into motivation and forms positive influence into our lives.
Exercise at home or in the gym.
Face mask and/or hair mask.
Dance along to your favorite playlist alone or with a friend in your house or somewhere you feel comfortable.
Yoga.
Socialise with your family or friends.
Take yourself out to eat or make your favourite meal.
Mental self-wellness is all about taking care of the mind and letting it be still for a while or practising something that stimulates you.
Read a book.
Meditation (recommendation -focus on letting go of something that’s been bothering you or on the rise and fall of your belly).
Yin Yoga (physical but, also mental as it slows down your mind).
Journaling about anything.
Sit or lay down somewhere near nature like a park or garden and watch the world go by while having a picnic.
Turn off your phone for the day and give yourself time to relax.
Self-wellness really cuts down to what makes YOU feel the most confident and the best you can be to be able to take necessary action in your life. It’s a boost to achieve what you want and to believe you deserve it… because you do! It’s essential to keep these regimens in mind and use them when you’re feeling overwhelmed or just need a day to unwind.
I would love to hear any recommendations you have in regard to your own regimen towards self-wellness. I am looking forward to hearing about your journey into self-wellness.
